Charter Bus Rental Pricing: 4 Factors That Determine Your Cost

January 20, 2020

When your group wants to travel in style without breaking the bank, consider a charter bus rental service. Charter buses are simpler than driving, calmer than flying, and more flexible than taking the train. Most people, though, will ask, “How much does it cost to rent a charter bus?” Read on. You may discover that charter bus rental pricing offers a better value than you thought.

The best way to determine the price for your specific bus rental is to get a quote. However, if you want to get a rough idea before getting in touch with us, the following factors can help you estimate how much you might pay to rent a charter bus.

Where To?

The primary factor in charter bus rental pricing is your destination. The farther you travel, the more time and mileage will add up. Depending on the type of rental and the destination, your type of price estimates might differ. In-town trips might be charged by the hour, while multi-day excursions could incur either a per-day or per-mile charge. Local tours spanning a few days are generally priced by the day. Take a look at some of our charter bus trip ideas to get an idea of distance and timing of trips within our service area.

When?

The time of year you choose to travel can greatly impact the cost to rent a charter bus. For example, rental prices can tend to be lower in mid-summer (fewer school field trips) and mid-winter (higher chance of poor weather). During the higher-demand spring season, you can expect that pricing might be a bit higher as well.

How Many?

The number of travelers in your group will affect charter bus rental pricing. Bus companies maintain a variety of fleet vehicles to accommodate groups of any size. More people traveling means needing a larger coach bus. If your group is large, like for example if you’re transporting all of your employees to an event, you may even need more than one bus to carry everyone in your group (and their luggage). Renting the right size vehicle for your group keeps you from paying for empty seats. At Atlantic Coast Charters, our charter bus sizes range from buses that fit 34 to 55 people each.

Who’s Up Front?

The safety of your group depends on the alertness of your charter bus driver. By law, a driver can only drive for 10 hours at a time, after which he or she must take a rest break of at least 8 hours. If your trip requires more than 10 hours of driving, a second driver may be required; this will increase the cost of your rental. Overnight excursions often factor in the cost of a hotel room for the driver as well.

As mentioned above, the best estimate of your Maryland charter bus costs will come from a customized estimate based on your plans, group size, timing, destination, and other factors. However, we hope this helps shed some light on what goes into the cost of your trip so you can have a better idea of what to expect! To get started with your charter bus cost estimate, simply fill out our quick and easy contact form!

What Is A Charter Bus?

January 13, 2020

A charter bus is a motorcoach that an organization, company, or group of people can hire for transportation. When you hire a charter bus company, you have your own driver that will take you directly to your location or series of locations. Charter buses are extremely popular for a variety of purposes and events, including:

  • -Weddings
  • -Corporate events
  • -Family reunions
  • -Day trips to casinos or a show
  • -Day trips to a city
  • -Sports team travel
  • -School field trips
  • -Senior citizen outings
  • -Church events
  • -Prom transportation
  • -Military and/or government travel

Charter buses are often preferred for these purposes over other types of transportation like trains or airplanes, since they are much more comfortable, can easily accommodate varying group sizes, and can even be more affordable. Charter buses come in multiple size options. For example, we have buses that accommodate 34, 47, and 55 total passengers. That way, all of the members of your group can be easily and conveniently transported together.

Our buses also come fully loaded with many amenities to make your trip as comfortable and convenient as possible. All of our buses have reclining seats, free wifi, power outlets, onboard restrooms, storage compartments and more. Wheelchair accessibility is also available upon request.

A charter bus rental in Maryland and the surrounding area will differ in cost based on a variety of factors. For example, your destination, group size, time of year, and other factors. The best way to understand your pricing options is to get a quote. Before you talk to a local charter bus company, be sure to have a few key details already figured out about your trip. For example, make sure to know the starting point of your trip, the names or any additional destinations or stops you’ll be making, the date(s) and approximate time(s), the number of passengers, as well as any other additional or special requests like wheelchair accessibility needs. Then, you can get a better idea of what to expect from your charter bus rental.

Do Charter Buses Have Wifi and Outlets?

January 3, 2020

In today’s high-tech world, we carry our devices with us wherever we go. Especially when we travel, we expect to use those devices to keep us connected with our families, our friends and the rest of the world.

If you’re like the average American who’s never without their device and plan to rent a charter bus, you’re probably asking these questions:

  • Do charter buses have WiFi?
  • Do charter buses have outlets?

You’ll be pleased to know that when you book your charter bus trip with Atlantic Coast Charters, the answer to both questions is yes!

Dedicated to our customers’ satisfaction, we include superior amenities on our modern charter buses, including 110v outlets and free WiFi. Whether you’re riding on one of our 34- , 47- or 55-seat buses, you’ll have access to these valuable amenities to help make your trip more convenient, as well as enjoyable.

No matter if you book a charter bus for a one-day shopping experience or an overnight business trip, you’ll appreciate the handy outlets and WiFi access available on our buses. Let’s look at some of the ways outlets and WiFi can help you make the most of your charter bus trip.

School Field Trips

Having lived in a high-tech world their entire lives, kids are virtually attached to their devices. Most elementary-age students carry cell phones, even if they’re not connected to the Internet. An educational field trip is the ideal opportunity for students of all ages to take photos at a museum or a national monument. You want to be sure their phones are fully charged for these moments, so we provide outlets on our buses for that purpose.

Even older kids quickly become bored on long bus rides, so why not let them take along their tablets to catch up on their homework? We provide convenient WiFi connection on our buses to keep the kids busy and quiet during the entire ride.

Weddings

When you book a charter bus for a wedding, you want to make sure you’re guests have access to outlets and wifi, especially if they’ll be on the bus for a longer time. They’ll appreciate this convenience, and you’ll appreciate all the pictures they take with their fully charged phones!

Corporate Outings

If you’re planning a corporate event and providing bus transportation for your team, you’ll definitely want to make sure they can stay connected on the go! With wifi and outlets, the team can turn a long bus trip into a productive day, or they can use these amenities to help them relax and entertain themselves on the way to the event.

Book Your Charter With Us

Whether you need charter bus transportation for a school or a church event, a theater trip or any other occasion, you don’t need to worry about not having access to wifi or outlets when booking through Atlantic Coast Charters. We offer these amenities, along with many others, on all our buses. Request a quote from us for your next charter bus rental today!

Why We Believe You Should Rent a Charter Bus

April 5, 2019

Why rent a charter bus? If you’re planning a road trip for a large group, travel as affordable and efficient as possible!

Road trips can last a couple of hours or they can feel more like an all-day adventure, but it’s important to conduct the proper research before making your next big travel decision. Once you come up with reasonable options, you’ll see that it doesn’t get much better than booking a charter bus for traveling in a large group, or even in small groups.

Renting a charter bus is one of the most popular methods of group travel and also one of the easiest. We realize that it’s normal for anyone to place rental price and efficiency in high regard, whether its be a long or short trip—both are normally a top priority for any big travel decision. As efficient and affordable as it is to rent a charter bus, they come with a few more perks that you, as the traveler, might look past when planning the next big getaway.

When you’re planning the next big family trip, making decisions go well-beyond choosing the right size charter bus. Here are few perks to keep in mind when deciding the method of travel that works best for your group.
Five reasons why you should rent a charter bus for the next big group getaway!

Stress and Carefree Travel

Anyone who’s taken a road trip knows they can be stressful enough—even if you’re on the road to your favorite getaway location with your favorite people. Why add ‘driving there’ to the list of things that you’re not looking forward to? After you’ve packed your bags, picked out your favorite snacks, and loaded up the bus, you can relax and enjoy the scenery of leaving town—thanks to the convenience of stress-free, care-free charter bus service.

Environmentally Friendly

It’s never a bad thing to keep the environment in mind when you travel. When you’re Charter buses use less fuel per person than any other mode of transportation. On average, a bus is known to emit far less carbon monoxide into the air than the average car. For an environmentally responsible alternative to a multi-car caravan for your next road trip, renting a charter bus is a thoughtful way to travel, without leaving your carbon footprint.

Safe

Did you know that while traveling, you’re more likely to have a safer trip when riding a charter bus, than you are driving a car? Yeah, that’s weird to think about. All the cars on the road are more likely to be involved in some sort of accident than a charter bus. Another way to look at it is like this; the more people riding a charter bus, the less number of cars on a road, which leads to less ‘other drivers’ to worry about, when traveling to your destination.

Atlantic Coast Charter has a longstanding relationship with the road. Our history of delivering superior service goes back years. The hands-on approach we take towards our charter bus transportation makes us the local leaders in charter bus service, in Maryland. Our well-maintained, well-appointed buses and expert bus operators are dedicated to providing you with a safe, comfortable, and friendly road trip experience.

Amenities

Long distance is nothing when Atlantic Coast Charters provides all kinds of amenities! After all, it’s all about making the road trip experience an enjoyable one, right? We can’t speak for all the other charter bus rental companies, but here is a list of the amenities available to our riders that are sure to enhance the charter bus travel experience:

Thirty-four comfortable, reclining seats that allow ample seating for your large travel group.
Adult sofa lounge area that seats seven of our adult travelers to break off from the rest of the group for a little while. It’s a great area for smaller groups to enjoy a private conversation.
Our free Wi-Fi allows our travelers to stay connected throughout the trip. Connect your phone, tablet, or laptop computer, and keep up with the world outside the charter bus.Air conditioning and heat controls keep our travelers comfortable for travel in any season.
110v outlets are there to charge your phone or hook up your laptop. You can charge anything, really—the power is in your hands! An onboard restroom ensures no out-of-the-way pit stops. We can transport up to over 30 travelers—that would be way too many unscheduled stops.
Large under-bus storage allows all travelers to stow away all larger items, keeping everyone assured that their belongings are safely aboard, and will be there when the charter bus reaches the destination.
Overhead storage compartment lets travelers keep smaller items stowed on the trip.
For your entertainment, our charter buses come equipped with DVD, CD, and radio options.Wheelchair lift, by request—accessibility for all of our travelers’ needs is important.

Space

Anyone who has been on a road trip can tell you that it’s never fun to be cooped up in a tiny car for too long, especially if you’re one of 56 passengers. When you rent a charter bus, you’ll have all the space you’ll need to get up and stretch your legs. When riding on a charter bus, won’t have to pull over and delay the trip if someone in the group needs a quick stretch. The space to stand up and walk around can be just the thing you need coming into the final stretch on your trip. Arrive at your destination feeling comfortable, and ready to enjoy!

Sure, it’s always smart to research your travel options when planning a big trip. And of course, everyone keeps their eyes open for the most affordable and efficient way to travel, but next time you’re planning a road trip with your large group, these five reasons might lend you a little more piece of mind when making your travel plans. Take it from us, one of Maryland’s top bus companies. If you’re a teacher planning a field trip, a wedding party party looking for a party bus, or a band in need of a comfortable tour bus, its important to know all factors to take into consideration. Hey, it could make all the difference between a horrible road trip experience, and an excellent one. And while you’re at it, take a look at some of our trip ideas!

Have You Ever Wondered How Buses Came to Be?

April 5, 2019

Seeing a need for greater groups of people wishing to travel together, the bus came to be in the early 1800s. Short for “omnibus,” from the Latin word for “[carriage] for all,” initial versions of the bus used actual horses for their “horsepower,” before becoming the larger, safer, and faster steam-driven English stagecoaches. After steam, the bus used electricity as its catalyst on the roads. It wasn’t until close to 1900 that the first combustible engine bus, or motorbus, saw its advent. Over time, buses have become even larger, more powerful, versatile modes of transportation for passengers all over the globe, making the need for hybrid, fuel cell, electric, and even compressed natural gas options to be created to allay rising fuel costs and environmental concerns.

The most familiar type of bus is the single-deck rigid bus (or motorbus or trolleybus), which indicates it has a single, rigid chassis, and typically is used in public transportation. There is also the double-decker, commonly identified from its use in England, as well as the articulated bus, with two rigid sections joined by a pivoting joint—both options for a higher passenger capacity. These buses are used in many ways: city transport, coach transport, school transport, privately, for tourism, or even for political campaigns or concert tours.

What you see now in our Atlantic Coast Charter fleet is not the bus of yesteryear. While you’ll find amenities like:

  • Reclining seats
  • Free Wi-Fi
  • Air conditioning and heating
  • Power outlets
  • On-board restrooms
  • Large storage areas
  • Music and television options
  • Vehicles with ADA compliance
  • Sofa lounge areas

Bus design has come a long way, as most of these options, or none of them, in fact, would have been found on the first iterations of the bus.

Upgrades in charter bus design have become a cost-effective and comfortable way to travel in style as a large group, for everyone to enjoy the amenities listed above, but also peace of mind with regards to safety and reliability. Schools and educational facilities consistently use charter companies to transport children and sports teams, while corporations, private groups, companies, or social clubs continually use us for events, conferences, touring, as a go-between from multiple locations, or for other recreational or professional needs.

If you have charter bus rental needs in Maryland or the nearby area, consider Atlantic Coast Charters. Our past and passions are rooted in dependable, well-appointed bus transportation. Charter buses are here for the long haul, and we look forward to transporting you now and into the future! For charter bus rental prices, please contact us.

In Times Square (a tourist’s mecca) alone, there are hundreds of activities and points of interest. Often called the “Canyon” because of the open space surrounded by soaring buildings and lights, Times Square is the most-visited tourist attraction in the world.

Bet you didn’t know…

  • Times Square, formerly known as Longacre Square, was established in 1904 after The New York Times moved its headquarters to the newly erected Times Building or One Times Square. On December 31, 1907, the now famous annual New Year’s Eve ball drop began.
  • Times Square has its very own Visitor’s Center and Museum.
  • On New Year’s Eve, nearly 1 million people congregate in Times Square to celebrate the Ball Drop from a pole atop the 25-story One Times Square.
  • The NASDAQ sign in Times Square cost more than $37 million to build and is the largest LED sign in the world.
  • In 2011, Times Square became 100% smoke-free.
  • Times Square is home to MTV’s headquarters and ABC’s ‘Good Morning America” is broadcast in front of a live audience from its office at 44th and Broadway.

Celebrities such as Tony Bennett, Ariana Grande, Jimmy Fallon, Gabby Douglas, Joan Rivers and Andrea Bocelli have all been featured. Broadway shows have also been performing in the parade since 1980. Shows including Guys and Dolls, 42nd Street, Wicked, The Producers and Cinderella have all made their mark on the iconic parade and its audiences. Safety Through the Eyes of a Charter Bus Driver

April 5, 2019

Anyone who drives regularly is all too familiar with the hundreds of challenges and road hazards on any given day. This is especially true for highway driving where speed limits raise the level of complexity as does the number of motorists. Add some rain or snow in there, and it can be ‘white knuckle city.’ For charter bus drivers, in good weather and bad, have an incredible responsibility to stay alert, safe and ready to react quickly to not only protect their passengers, but also those around them.

At Atlantic Coast Charters, we have a strong history of safety and reliability. Our drivers keep current with all ongoing training requirements and safety standards in the industry. Not to mention the regular maintenance of our fleet to ensure the highest safety standards that we guarantee our riders. Going above and beyond, we make safety a top priority for example, we keep the following not so obvious things top of mind during every trip:

Keep an eye on the blind angle

Especially true when turning or changing lanes, we stay aware of all other vehicles that are close to our vehicle.

Careful lane changes

Unless there’s ample room for a lane change that won’t force other drivers to make a sudden move or deceleration, our drivers won’t make the move.

Keep a distance

The faster the speed, the greater distance between vehicles is required. Safe distances in rain, mud, snow and ice conditions multiplies that distance.

Anticipate

Our drivers stay alert and keep their head on a swivel. There are any number of distractions or interruptions during any trip. Anticipating these hazards minimize braking or sudden acceleration which can be dangerous to others on the road.

Respecting the speed limit

Driving at designated speed limits at all times and conditions protects the lives of others as well those of the driver.

Adapt

When road conditions change, our drivers carefully adapt their driving to ensure safety. Whether it’s rain, fog, ice or simply driving through tunnels, these factors all make an impact on how our drivers maintain a consistently safe experience.

Travel Smart: Travel Charter!

April 4, 2019

Bus travel isn’t what it used to be. Not so long ago, there weren’t many affordable options to get from point A to point B. Travelers could either drive their car, fly, take the train or take the bus. Over the years, and through no fault of its own, bus travel hasn’t exactly been glamorized in movies or on television: bluesmen making the journey from the Deep South to Chicago, Forrest Gump visiting Jenny in Savannah, or Ellis Boyd “Red” Redding finally making parole and travelling to Mexico to see Andy Dufresne after his brilliant escape from Shawshank. Nevertheless, bus service has always been the “cheap alternative”. While the word ‘cheap’ is subjective, bus service today – especially chartered bus service – is an attractive and affordable means of travel.

With locations in Baltimore and Hagerstown Maryland – Atlantic Coast Charters is the area’s premier provider of superior charter bus service. Whether for commuters, vacationers or chartered bus services, Atlantic Coast Charters will not only get you from point A to point B, but deliver superior service and luxury amenities you’ve never seen in the movies: Wi-Fi, TV, DVD, 110-volt outlets, air-conditioning, plenty of leg room, luggage space, ADA accessibility and GPS-ready busses. For special occasions like weddings, travel groups, church/school trips, sports teams, you can easily leave your worries behind.

Accommodating large or larger groups, Atlantic Coast Charters can customize your bus service from Baltimore MD to NYC, AC or any point in between! Day service includes the following destinations:

Baltimore, MD Lancaster, PA Luray, MD
Annapolis, MD Reading, PA Atlantic City, NJ
St. Michael’s, MD Philadelphia, PA Gettysburg, PA
Washington DC Ocean City, MD New York City, NY
Mr. Vernon, VA St. Mary’s City, MD

In addition to chartered bus service, commuters can also take advantage of bus service within Maryland, with routes serving Gaithersburg-Baltimore (Route 201), Frederick-College Park (Route 204) and Hagerstown/Myersville-Shady Grove/Rock Spring (Route 505). If you have the luxury of more travel time, our experts can help charter custom overnight services. Some of these destinations might include:

Orlando, FL Pittsburgh, PA Pigeon Forge, TN
Myrtle Beach, SC Louisville, KY
Williamsburg, VA Nashville, TN
