After steam, the bus used electricity as its catalyst on the roads. It wasn’t until close to 1900 that the first combustible engine bus, or motorbus, saw its advent. The most familiar type of bus is the single-deck rigid bus (or motorbus or trolleybus), which indicates it has a single, rigid chassis, and typically is used in public transportation. There is also the double-decker, commonly identified from its use in England, as well as the articulated bus, with two rigid sections joined by a pivoting joint—both options for a higher passenger capacity.
