A History of Safety and Reliability
Our passion for the bus industry is the fuel that keeps us going
Being family-owned and operated and active in the community means Atlantic Coast Charters places an emphasis on quality, accountability, and reliability — you are dealing directly with us and we want to continue to serve you far into the future. We value our customers and, therefore, ensure our buses and staff are well taken care of to put our best face forward for you. We address any issues we have quickly and effectively, have our drivers complete ongoing training in safety and standards, and utilize technology (i.e., electronic logs) to eliminate driver fatigue. All of this, including being involved in the day-to-day operations, allows us to continuously strive to monitor and improve your experience with us.
Atlantic Coast Charters is committed to providing safe, well-maintained vehicles and exemplary service to our passengers, and has been doing so since 2010, although owners Ron Dillon, Jr., and Ron Dillon, Sr., have been doing so their entire lives, having been born into the business. The Dillons can trace their roots back to 1918, when Edmund Dillon started the family’s first bus company in Anne Arundel County, Maryland.

Company Atlantic Coast is owned by Ron Dillon, Jr., and Ron Dillon, Sr., former owners of Dillon’s Bus Service.
With their wealth of experience and knowledge of the bus industry, Ron, Sr., and Ron, Jr., decided to buy Atlantic Coast Charters in September 2010 in order to return to a family-oriented business environment, where they work side by side with employees. Together, the staff of Atlantic Coast Charters focuses on safety, reliability, and the entire customer experience, touting Ron, Sr.,’s motto of “credibility before profitability” – meaning, treat your customers and employees right, and everyone benefits.
Ron Dillon, Sr. was the leading influencer behind the growth of Dillon’s Bus Service. Involved in many facets of the business, Ron, Sr., has always been focused on maintenance—even working on his dad’s school buses at the age of 10. This love and interest was recognized by the U.S. Army where he was head of the motor pool while stationed in Korea, and still translates to how he presides as Vice President of Atlantic Coast Charters, as not a day goes without him spending a few hours in the shop guaranteeing the quality of work being done by Atlantic technicians.
Ron Dillon, Jr., has this business in his blood – his first job at age 12 was working in the maintenance shop during the summer, which continued annually for four years until he began working there consistently after school at the age of 16. Ron, Jr., continued to work in the bus garage, putting himself through college at UMBC, where he studied economics. Upon graduation in 1997, he left the business and joined Arthur Andersen in Baltimore and passed the CPA exam. In October 1998, Ron, Jr., returned to Dillon’s Bus Service as Controller, his first position within the office of the family industry. Today he holds the position of President of Atlantic Coast Charters.
