Avoid Boredom on a Charter Bus for a School Field Trip with Fun Games

Field trips are a highlight for many children. Oftentimes, though, the bus ride to their destination is not.

Long rides on a charter bus for a school field trip can bore kids and fray the nerves of teachers and parents.

Thankfully, there’s a way to reduce – or even prevent – having to hear “are we there yet” even once during your trip: fun bus activities and games.

You Can Have Fun on a Charter Bus for a School Field Trip – Enjoyable Games and Activities

The next time you charter a bus for a school field trip, consider adding these games and activities to your itinerary. They’ll make the ride more manageable for kids, teachers, and parents.

1. I Spy

Yes, this one is an oldie but goodie, especially if you’re on a field trip bus rental with younger kids. The game keeps their minds engaged, distracting them from the time it’s taking to get from point A to point B.

Everyone can get a turn, too. One person starts, perhaps the teacher, and says, “I Spy with my little eye” before naming a clue.

Each kid gets a turn to guess. The person who guesses correctly gets the opportunity to be the next spy.

2. Green Glass Door

Riddles can be a fun way to pass the time. Green Glass Door is a fun, mind-bending game.

You start by telling the group you’re taking something (say an object) through a Green Glass Door. Everyone else must do so, too. The goal of the game is to figure out “what” is allowed through the door.

For example, “I can bring a mitten through the door but not a glove.”

Eventually, more and more people will catch on that the things that can pass through the Green Glass Door are double-lettered words (Example: kitten vs. cat).

Every time someone doesn’t guess a double-lettered word, they’re out, or they can keep trying until they figure it out – in the proper order of students, of course.

3. Trivia Games

Come up with questions and answers before the trip.

The kids can participate alone, or you can pair them up. For every right answer, they get a point.

4. The Name Game

Starting with the letter A, think of a name.

The next person says the A-name and then comes up with a B-name. The third person repeats the A- and B-names and comes up with a C-name and so on.

The goal is to try to remember as many names as possible. Anyone who forgets one of the names is out.

5. Famous People Name Game

Another fun name game is one in which the first person calls out the name of a celebrity.

The next person must come up with the name of another celebrity based on the last letter of the previous celebrity.

For example, if the first person says “Selena Gomez,” the next person would have to figure out the name of a celebrity that starts with a Z, like “Zendaya.”
